The surrounding area.
The Bresse is a
gently undulating, predominantly agricultural region between the Jura
and the Burgundy wine region. Flowing out into the Saône river, the
Seille river runs from the Jura straight through the Bresse region and
is navigable from Louhans. Boats are for rent in Louhans and Branges to
navigate the Seille and Saône rivers. The
numerous tributaries of the Seille are dammed up in various locations,
which make for many fishing ponds. The region is very suitable for
walking and cycling.

At 5 km of Beauvoir,
Louhans is a beautiful small town, known for its Grande Rue with its
157 arches. It is the economic heart of the Bresse, which is evident
from the large farmers market that is being held every Monday. On the
market, live poultry is being traded and afterwards the market vendors
and buyers go out to eat tête-de-veau in one of many establishments that
offer this delicacy. But the true speciality of the Bresse is the Bresse
chicken, highly acclaimed in the whole of France and far beyond.
Louhans is situated
between Chalon sur Saône and Lons-le-Saunier. Both Chalon and Lons offer
golfing opportunities. The municipal golf course in Chalon is
beautifully laid out with a hugh diversity of trees and rose bushes. The
more undulating grounds in Lons have a surprising layout.
